#209

Received: April 29th, 2014
From: Müller & Hanrè (Cape Town, South Africa)
Depicts: View over Cape Town, South Africa

A few weeks ago, I was following Oscar Pistorius's trial closely, when I remembered I didn't have a card from South Africa and decided to ask for one! Luckily, Müller and Hanrè were very kind and agreed to send me one and here it is, and I love it! My "relationship" with South Africa has ties with football and Shakira, since one of my favorite teams won the World Cup there just four years ago (although the final wasn't held there, see the Cape Town stadium in the bottom right corner of the card?) and I was really happy that I could get a little bit of the country to add to my growing collection of cards. Plus, Müller and Hanrè told me a few facts about their country and city, which I always love to know: Cape Town dates from 1652 and is the oldest town in South Africa, having been founded by the Dutch; it's often called the "Mothercity" and the South African parliament is there, even the country's capital is Pretoria.
