I had been dying to get a card from Scotland - so green, such beautiful castles! - and finally I found Rachael, who sent this beautiful, beautiful card! I love it very much! It shows the view from the Scott Monument across Princes Street Gardens towards the National Gallery of Scotland and beyond to the Castle. She kindly told me that that green space, that nowadays is the Princes Street Gardens, used to be a man-made loch for defense of the castle. Over the years, it became very polluted and even served as a testing ground for witches in the 16th and 17th centuries... Always nice to get to know things a little better!
