#1

Depicts: Ludwigsburg's Residenzchloss

This postcard is especially important for me because it marks the beginning of my collection. I'd created an account on Postcrossing just for fun a few weeks before and sent out a few cards and this was the first one I got and back then, I never could have imagined how much of a passion collecting postcards would become in a short while - now, I'm always eager to go check my mailbox as soon as I get home and it makes me either incredibly happy to see new cards there, or kind of disappointed when I get none in that day!

Well, the postcard itself shows Ludwisgburg's Residenzchloss, which is saying, the town's castle. Wilhelm (who sent the card to me) told me a little about it in the card and I made some research myself because I absolutely love palaces!
This one was built in 1704 in the Baroque style, although it suffered a few modifications (it was even destroyed during World War II) and now also has marks of other styles, the Rococo and the Empire.
Its magnificent gardens have attracted thousand of visitors every year since 1953 and nowadays they're styled as they were around 1800.
As Wilhelm kindly told me, in the Summer it's usual to host open air classical musical concerts on the palace's gardens, and in Autumn there's a big themed exhibition with pumpkins and different kinds of meals made with pumpkins.
